A wild horse that before their herds grew to be fewer, use to run the expanses of Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia and China.
The coloration of the horse can deviate from brown to fawn. Their stomach and snout are light in color. The tail is dark and their legs have bands on them. They have a rather big head with a stout, short trunk. Last of all their mane is very short and sticks up in the air a bit like a mohawk.
The size of this horse is approximately 13 hands at the shoulder which in laymens language is about 4 feet tall. The body and head of this horse measures less then 7 feet in length. A full grown Przewalski can weigh anywhere between 550 and 750 pounds.
The wild horse was thought to be extinct up until 2008. Now they are on the critically jeopardized list. The reason for their herds dropping in numbers is due to being tracked down, the brutal weather, as with a lot of species loosing their roaming region and not enough areas of water.
Due to the efforts of many people, these animals are being re-introduced into the wild. There are approximately 1500 of the horses in zoos and facilities which are trying to breed and enlarge the herds. Out in the wilderness there are about 400 horses now running free thanks to these people who have helped reintroduce them to the wild.
These horses have never been riden as the ones we see on the cowboy shows. They are the true wild horse and are still here today.
