A Raccoon Causes Power Outage In Memphis
It seems, no matter how much planning you put into something, such as, how to keep wild animals out, it’s never enough.
This raccoon just proved that.
He climbed a barrier that was 30 feet high, a barrier that was suppose to keep him and other animals out. Then he managed to short out a switch on a substation.
There were at least 8,000 customers who had no electricity from Thursday evening till early Friday morning.
The incident cut off electrical power to the down town Memphis area. There were also two hospitals and The Commercial Appeal, a newspaper, that were without power when it first happened.
The power to the two hospitals was restored with emergency generators but the newspapers power came on later. The production and delivery of the paper was a little later on Friday then usual.
There were many other business’s that were disrupted also.
The city went about 5 hours without electric, all due to a rambunctious raccoon.

Elephant Escapes Circus and Wanders into City
Sabu was on an outing. She managed to escape from the circus while they were trying to get her onto a trailer.
While out, she took a dip in Lake Zurich and then began to take a tour of the city.
She walked along a Swiss city center.
As she walked along, motorist gave her plenty of room for her walk.
Eventually she was once again in the hands of the circus owners as animal welfare workers and circus keepers were able to capture her.
It didn’t seem like Sabu had any intentions other then maybe being a tourist for a short while.

Put Your Cat on a Leash
That is the clause in a law in Barre Vermont. It is raising a lot of cane amongst the owners of cats. Especially the owners of the ones who are roaming the neighborhoods unleashed.
Some are asking if Barre can afford a jail for captured cats?
There are disputes between cat owners and landowners about cats using their yards as a potty area. Nothing worse then digging in your topsoil to plant a flower and digging up poo.
Sue Higby says that the lease law is a bad idea.
Can you imagine watching the officers trying to catch loose cats?
I can’t even imagine trying to put my cat on a leash. To begin with he is a stray we took in but he still wants to go out. He has his ways and I know would never go for that.
