The puppy was put into a tightly closed priority mail box to be mailed to her son in Georgia. The puppy had been put in the box with nothing to drink or eat. There were no air holes poked into the box to allow any air flow.
Stacey Champion, who is 39 years of age, was charged with curelty to animals. She received two misdemeanor counts of cruelty.
Stacey was given until 7pm on Monday to put up a bond to the city of Minneapolis to get her dog back, but she never bothered to show up.
Since Guess, which is the 4 month old poodle with schnauzer in it has no owner at this time, Guess is set up to be adopted as of 2pm on Friday.
All who are interested in having Guess be a member of their family are to be at the Minneapolis Animal Care and Control in person.
There will be a draw of 10 names of people they feel qualify to be the new family for Guess. Names will be placed in a container and the winner gets the dog.
The new family will get to take Guess home after going through the normal adoption procedures.
