A wing span of 12 inches and unbelievable colors adorn this creature who only lives a short while.

Just recently, 9 Atlas moths, the largest moths in the world, were hatched at the Berkeley Castle Butterfly House which is located in Gloucestershire, England.

The castle is a medieval fortress from the eleventh century.. Along with it being the birth place of the moths, it has beenĀ  home to the Berkeley Family for 850 years.

Sadly, last year there were no Atlas Moths born at the castle.

The Atlas Moth is typically found in the Asia in the southeastern forest. They only live two weeks living off the left over fat they obtained while they were caterpillars.

So if you are interested in seeing these young moths at the Berkeley Castle, you had better go soon or you will miss them.

Birth of Panda Captured on Camera

In Austria, the Giant panda was giving birth. The zoo had set up cameras ahead of time to enable them to view the birth and be certain that the mother accepted the baby. There have been many times that a cub has not lived due to the mother not bonding with her baby.

The pictures of the baby being born show Yang Yang welcoming her baby and gently picking it up in her mouth as pandas do.

The cub weighs less then 2 ounces and is about 6 inches long.

Yang Yang and her cub are bonding just fine. The zoo keepers feel good about the acceptance and will close off the exhibit to allow Yang Yang some more special time with her baby before re-opening to the public.

“A lot of young pandas die in their first year so we are keeping a very close eye on this,” said a zoo spokesman.
