A bear turns up at the elementary school
First the 150 pound black bear appeared outside of an elementary school having recess in California. The bear seeing the students, was probably a bit curious, and it began going towards Ramon Garza Elementary School located in Bakersfield. Some of the students were out at recess on Thursday as the bear was spotted approaching the school. Teachers and recess helpers immediately began herding the children back into the school for their own safety.
Spotted the graduation
Once there were no children on the playground enticing the bear to check things out, the bear noticed that across the street at the Sierra Middle School, there were students getting ready to be in a graduation ceremony and their parents. Once again the bear was curious and was going to check things out. The bear never did seem to appear vicious, he kept his distance from the school and people. Even so, you fear something upsetting the bear leading to them become angry and causing someone harm. A teacher called the authorities about the bear as he was noted approaching the schools.
The bear wasn’t difficult for the animal control people to capture. After arriving, it took them only a few minutes to block the bear in at an apartment complex. They quickly shot it with a stun gun and got the bear into a truck. Later the black bear was let go approximately 1 1/2 hours away from where they found it south east of the town. I am sure it proved to be an exciting moment for both the graduates and the elementary students. Not something they see every day. It is thought that possibly the bear, which they estimate to be 3 years old, came into the town after following the Kern River. It’s good that the bear was captured and released without harming it in any way.
