16 Year Old Boy Catches Bull Shark in Fresh Water

It happened in Valona, Georgia. The young boy was fishing off a dock in the area he lives in, not expecting to catch a salt water fish. He especially did not expect to see two dorsal fins sticking up out of the water. There were two bull sharks in the water and very close to land.

The sharks may be migrating into fresh water following the shrimp boats that are tossing fish over board and would make a nice meal for the bull sharks. The scary part is these sharks were almost in this young mans backyard. Something he most likely never feared seeing in this particular water way.

16 year old Noel Todd used a shark hook, some bait and rope to catch his bull shark. Once he was able to drag the fish up onto the dock and get some stats on it, they found it was 8.5 feet in length and weighed 368 pounds. The shark was most likely killed at the time he got it on the dock. Todd is said to have kept the jaws of the shark, but gave the rest of it to a friend.

Bull sharks are very hostile sharks and they are something to be concerned about if they are suddenly in the water around you. They are amongst the sharks that will most likely attack a human. They are also known for swimming in shallow areas on the coast line right where many people tend to swim.
At this time the bull shark isn’t on the endangered list, but they are fished for their meat, skin and oil. They are sure to be shrinking in numbers. It does appear that people need to be aware of possible dangers even lurking in fresh water.

King Crabs Wrecking Havoc in the West Antarctica

As the waters are warming and becoming acceptable for the king crab, they are moving across the Antarctic shelf and playing havoc with the echinoderms that live there. They are breeding huge populations and eating well. As the waters continue to warm, there is a danger of the king crab moving further and further out onto the west Antarctic Peninsula shelf. Over the next 20 years they will continue to multiply moving further out onto the shelf and destroying whole echinoderms as they go.

The crab is reproducing fast and with the new food supply they are eating like crazy.  They have also found during a study that the crab has moved into the Palmer Deep basin area and have large populations forming. The king crabs that have moved across 75 miles of the continental shelf have multiplied into 1.5 million in population. They dig into the soft floor of the sea finding many of the sea animals that are living there. This is changing the living quarters of many sea animals.

Even Whales Like to Have Fun

A 10 year old beluga whale has learned how to make a halo out of bubbles. She started blowing the bubble ring when she was seven years old, she has now fine tuned her halo making and likes to show visitors what she can do.

It all started with her blowing water from her mouth. The water forms a current that no one beneath the water can see. Next she blows air out her blow hole into the current and the results is a halo of bubbles.

Hiroya Minakunchi is a 58 year old photograper from Osaka. He is the only person that isn’t a part of the Shimane aquarium located in Japan that is permitted to swim with the beluga. That is how he got to take this perfect picture of her blowing one of her halo bubbles.

A Deep Ocean Alien Like Squid Filmed At Oil Drilling Location

It was about a mile and a half beneath the sea waters  that the squid that has a human appearance yet not, was filmed by a ROV a remotely operated vehicle with a camera attached.  The squid appears right in front of the camera, almost as though it is posing with it’s large fins flopping about. The fins were referred to as resembling elephant ears. The squid also has long arms with elbow like extremities.

This type of squid called, Magnapinna, or more commonly “big fin,” are still today a mystery. They are a rarely seen squid. The Magnapinna squid has been filmed by these ROV’s maybe a dozen times as they were filming the bottoms of the Gulf and the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

This video taken by a ROV at a Shell drilling site is the first time one has been filmed at a oil drilling location. ROV’s are proving to be very worthwhile for taking footage of the aquatic life on the floors of our oceans and seas.

Largest Albino Catfish Every Caught by an Angler

This is one huge fish. I am personally leary of sharks in the ocean but knowing there are possibly fish 8 feet long, and weighing a 194 pounds living in the fresh water where we could swim is freaking me out. They have teeth too!

This monster fish was caught by an angler, Chris Grimmer while fishing with his 3 friends in the River Ebro in Barcelona, Spain.

They were on a week long fishing trip. His rod bent over in half as the fish took his bait of halibut pellets.

It took a very long time for Chris to reel this monster in. One of his friends leaped into the water once it was close enough to help Chris bring it in. Chris was so thrilled with his catch, realizing it had to be a record, ended up in the water too.

After officially recording the catch, which weighed 2 more pounds then the previous record caught, the fish was released back in the river.

Flying Asian Carps

One happy family, went on “fishing” on the Spoon River. The funniest member of a whole family was a boy, Matthew, who is the youngest in the family.

He was curled up in fetal position in front of the boat at all times and not at all to see! It was imperceptible, while the other members of family was ready to party on a boat. Small boat led them along the entire lake full of carp. Carp were huge, flying around on all sides. Children was little bit afraid of carps, because you never know when one of those big flying carps will hit you. Children were wearing only swimming trunks and they didn’t feel good when the carp flew directly on them. They were screaming, shouting and laughing. They were overjoyed when they saw full boat of fresh fish and they didn’t even need to use hook for fishing. That was for sure the fastest and the best catch in they lives.

Carps have been really huge. After they stop a boat they have something to see. The boat had over seventy of Asian carp that have flown into their boat. I would not be happy if one of those huge carps flew to my head, thats why the boys hide so well. Next time I m sure they will bring some kind of shields to protect them selfs. You have to admit that this is the best and easiest catch ever seen.

Imagen if you can go every day in this kind of fishing. You will be richest and best fisherman on the world. Fishes will enter your boat without knowing that they will be fried soon.Asian Carp

Giant Squid Found by Fisherman in Florida

A group of three fishermen were out nearly 12 miles from the Jensen Beach coastline when they saw something strange floating in the water.

As they approached it, the fishermen from Stuart Florida Robby Benz, Paul Peroulakis and Joe Asaro saw it was a carcass of a giant squid. It ranged from 23 to 25 feet in length. The squids estimated weight was 200 pounds.

The fishermen took the squid to the Port Salerno’s commercial fishing docks. The three fishermen had never seen anything like this before and were wondering if perhaps the commercial fishermen would have.

It turned out that even the commercial fishermen were surprised about their find.

They called the wildlife agency to take over the care of the dead squid

Ellie Van Os, who is the director of the education and exhibits for the Oceanographic Society in Florida said that the three men did a great job of taking care of the squid. She also said that,”anytime you get an animal from the depths like that it’s very exciting.”

The squid has now after being examined by the agency been passed on to a group at the University of Florida to study.

New Sea Mollusks Found in Japan

Video begins with two young men from Japan who are fishing in the sea. In the distance they saw something strange, so they decided to see what’s there.

They have explored the beach where they were fishing and have discovered something really strange. In fact, while walking along the beach they have noticed the strange creatures on the rocks. These beings were sunbathing on the rocks near them. As soon as they noticed that someone is coming close to them, these unusual creatures have fled to the shelter. When the boys reached the rocks, strange creatures have already managed to hide. However, these skilled researchers do not give up so easily. They continue on in search of these strange creatures. They seek them all over the beach, among the grass, on rocks and in sand. Again they were lucky and found one such creature on a rock that failed to escape.

It was as clear small balloon with lots of tiny feet. It have white pink color, by sides small tiny arms and below a small hole which was half closed. They touched the creature with stick, it was very soft, spongy and slimy. They even turned it upside down and pushed the stick into the hole from below to see how creature will react. They even give the creature some soda. After some time that little creature started to release water and suddenly it started to throw water at two researchers. The guys ran away in hurry since they were very scared after seeing this pink creature throwing something from its mouth.

What was it is not known, perhaps someone will have the courage to explore it in detail. We can not wait to find out the name of this strange creature.

The Invisible Eel

Don’t worry, when you are swimming in the ocean or fresh water where ever eels can be found, you won’t necessarily come across an invisible eel. The only time these eels are transparent is when they are in the larvae form. Once they start into the adult stage, they begin to metamorphose and look more like the eels we know.

During the larvae stage, they are made up of a jelly fish like material. This material is on the inner side of the skin of the eel or muscle. Their organs are so tiny and they don’t have red blood cells making them even more invisible.

The eels that are see through in the larvae stage are the conger, moray, and the garden eel. Then we have the fresh water eel, the Anguillidae. There are also the tarpon, bonefish, spiny and pelican eel.

The stage in their lives that they are transparent is called the leptocephalus larva stage.

The leptocephali the plural form of leptocephalus, are a bit different form most other fish larvae. They get bigger, they run between 60 -300 mm or longer and are in the larvae time anywhere from 3 months to over a year.

During the daylight hours the leptocephali tend to swim in the deeper waters of the ocean. At night, they venture into the upper waters which is about

The eels can be found all over the world. They are located from the southern latitudes to the tropical ones. They can be found where ever adult eels or their relatives can be found.
