For close to 40 years, Jennifer Owen had a biology experiement happening in her garden. She has a degree in biology and is a university professor. Her husband is a zoologist. She set up her garden in her suburban yard and began to classify all the insects and animals she found there. She started her garden back in 1972. Even her children were a part of the project helping her catch insects  and classiflying them.

Jennifer found 8000 different mammals, birds, frogs, lizards, insects and arachnids over the years. There were 20 species she found that had never been reported as being seen before in Britain, and 4 species never been seen before at all.

Along with catagorizing insects and mammals, she also kept records of the climat changes over time. She noticed how some insects changed thier habits as weather became too dry or too wet. Also as warming trends came she would see a whole new group of insects invading her garden. Agricultural spraying to get rid of bugs caused the numbers to decline. Jennifers small garden, around 1/7th the size of a football field, provided a lot of information over the years.

Michael Ohl, an Entomologist, discovered the wasp in an insect collection at a museum where he was studying insects. The wasp was found on Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island by Lynn Kimsey of the University of California,Davis.
