Tropical Ninja Gecko

Tropical geckos from island of Madagascar have become real attraction after National Geographic published web piece about them. In this video you can see day geckos, but also the ones that are with good reason called ninja geckos. Are you wondering why are they called like that? It’s because they are the masters of disguise! They can change their color to look same as the tree they are on, so that way predators can’t catch them. They camouflage so well that there’s no way anyone can see them.

It’s interesting that on Madagascar there is more then 210 difference species of geckos. Most of them use bugs as food, but in this video you will see Madagascar day gecko who is eating nectar that some bugs produce. Well, even geckos can treat themselves to some sweet dessert! Day geckos are interesting because of their neon colors. It’s mostly bright green with orange, red or blue dots. But, after you have seen day gecko, you will have a chance to see real animal ninja. Look at this fantastic video and find out will you be able to notice ninja gecko or you can’t see anything on that tree until camera gets right in front of him.

In some parts of Madagascar, people think that chameleons, geckos that can change their color, have magic powers and ability to see the future. Well, after seeing this video, you will think they are cool too. National Geographic is well known because of their documentaries about animals and nature. After watching any of them you can’t say anything else but: nature is awesome!

An Amazing Strategy on How A Gecko Fights To Save His Friend

An Amazing Strategy on How A Gecko Fights To Save His Friend

Animals are extraordinary creatures in our planet. They emit a sense of mystery and can even leave us in awe. This amazing video of a gecko fights to save his friend is a testament on how amazing animals are. Geckos belong to the family of lizards called Gekkonidae. They are usually found in warm countries all over the world and they can grow from 1.6 centimeters to 60 centimeters. They are known for their foot pads that have great adhesion which allows them to climb up smooth and vertical spaces. In this video, you can see a gecko standing by as it watches another gecko tangled by a snake. The first gecko seems to be observing the situation, while the trapped gecko was motionless. A few minutes passed by and it seemed like the gecko was just there to observe. After awhile it was apparent that the gecko was actually studying the situation. This was the time the gecko decided to fight back.
Check The Battle Of 2 Geckos versus nasty Green Snake:

It charged at the snake and bit it. The snake was stunned and tried to defend itself while still keeping its body wrapped on the captured gecko. The gecko bit the snake again trying to free his fellow gecko. After that you can see that the other gecko back away but it was actually trying to lure the snake. It would reappear again after a few seconds which distracts the snake. This was a very effective strategy because after a few attempts the snake was completely distracted and the trapped gecko was able to wiggle its way to safety. The snake seemed to have fallen away from the picture, leaving the two geckos in peace. This is just another example of how animals have that impeccable instinct to study a situation and formulate a good strategy. We may never know how these animals think but one thing is apparent they will do anything in their power to survive and help their fellow specie escape a threat.

18 Foot Long Anaconda Caught in Surinam

If you ever watched the movie, “Anaconda” a movie about a huge snake that spreads terror through the jungle it was living in, then this discovery is sure to bring back some of the goosebumps you must have felt when seeing that giant snake crawling across the vegetation stalking it’s prey.

Robert Pickles, a biologist from Wales, was trekking through part of the Rewa River with some guides where they discovered an 18 foot long green anaconda. Their actual discovery was made back in 2009 but at that time the pictures weren’t released to the public. Now they have been. The discovery happened in a part of the country where it isn’t common to see people. The wildlife there had no fear of Robert or his guides and at times let them get rather close. The monster of a snake was seen sunning itself on the bank of the Rewa River. It was the biggest snake any of them had ever come across and they were uncertain as to trying to capture it at the time. They left it be and planned on returning later. They continued on to capture some of the smaller reptiles in the area, some were smaller anacondas and others were caiman. After practicing on the smaller reptiles and measuring them plus taking stats on them, they decided to go back and try to capture the monster.

When they reached the location they had first seen it sunning itself, they found it to still be there. The group expertly captured the snake. For their safety, they taped the snakes mouth closed. Then they measured the full length of the snake and found it to be a whopping 18 feet long. After measuring, they weighed it and took down other stats on it before releasing it back into the river.

The 18 foot long anaconda could possibly be the longest one that has ever been captured and measured.

Colossal Saltwater Crocodile Captured in the Philippines Alive

The huge monstrous crocodile is the largest saltwater crocodile ever captured alive. It was caught on 09/03/2011 in the Philippines. They have even given it a name, Lolong. Seems a fitting name. The crocodile is 20 feet long.

Lolong has been being hunted for fear that he has been eating humans. People in Bunawan township shouted with joy upon his capture. He was captured in a steel cable trap in a creek. They then could pull him out of the creek safely. They even had a small festival to celebrate his being caught in the village.

As they are rejoicing the fearful crocodile has been captured, officials are sending out warnings that he may not be the only one. There could be more even larger ones living in the area marsh lands. Another larger crocodile could actually be the man eating one.

Lolong weighed in at one ton and they are checking around to see if he is the largest saltwater crocodile to be captured still alive. There was one in the Australia that was captured that made the Guinness Worlds Records book and it was 17 feet 11.75 inches in length. Lolong definitely beat that one for the record. Lolong weighed in at 2,370 pounds and they figure him to be about 50 years old. Saltwater crocodiles can live to be 100 years of age and as much as 23 feet long.

The hunt went on for 3 weeks. It began when villages told of a crocodile eating a water buffalo. It was also feared that it possibly attacked some local fishermen that disappeared last July.

Once Lolong was given something to make him vomit to see just what he had been eating, no human parts were found. That makes the idea that there could still be a larger more dangerous crocodile lurking in the marsh land.

Lolong will not be reintroduced to the wild, he is going to be on show at a ecotourism park being built in the area. His life will be a much simpler one now.

Did You Know that 86 Percent of Earth’s Species are Still Unknown?

Our planet earth is home to 8.7 million species yet 86 percent of them have yet to be named and placed into groups. Millions of organisms that haven’t even been put into categories or given names that could go extinct before this even happens. In conclusion, scientists have only labeled 15 percent of the living species.

The naming and categorizing mammals and birds is close to being done, but the other categories are lacking at this time.

Forms of fungi, such as mushrooms and yeast are only 7 percent done. Also under 10 percent of the species living in earth’s oceans have been labeled. Mainly the only species at this time that have been identified are the ones that are easy to find.

We have a time of exploring and discovery ahead trying to get these last 86 percent additional species into categories. Even with a lot of people working to find and categorize all these species, the procedure will take a long time to complete.

A Badger, an Experiment or a Chupacabra?

An animal that was discovered along a road in Alexandria in Minnesota by Lacey Ilse has started up a lot of different stories.

The animal was hairless, white, had a bloated appearance. It is even said that it looked ‘half human.’

It is being a little more leaned to the fact that it could be a badger. It has the toes of a badger. Looks nothing at all like the Chupacabra I did a story on a few weeks ago and it looks a bit more fierce than a dog or coyote.

The appearance of the animal could come from the natural effects of death. Loosing the hair, bloated body, white skin, those are all common things that happen when one dies.

The animal has five toes and very long nails on it’s front paws like a badger. It is close to the normal size of a badger.

So is it a badger, a monster or a chupacabra?

There’s A Snake on the Hood of the Car!

That is exactly the predicament a family from Memphis area found themselves in as they were driving along a highway last week. They were moving along at about 65 mph and suddenly, a snake, 5 feet long crawled out of the engine area and onto the hood of their car. The family wasn’t exactly thrilled with this incident. The father did pull out his cell phone to take videos of the snake as it rode along in utter confusion for the 2 minutes and 24 seconds filming time.

The snake which I am sure was rather frightened, seems to be of the non-poisonous type. It rode along on the hood until it slid off onto the road where it most likely died. It’s a real shame the driver didn’t think to pull off the side of the road to allow the snake to gracefully leave the hood of the SUV and return to the grasses. There are many people who are a bit upset over the fact they did not try to help the snake but just kept on driving along at a fast speed.

After watching the video I also think the driver should have pulled off the road. I actually feel sorry for the snake and I am not a snake lover.

Snake on Speeding Car

This snake found one very unusual place for taking a break from this hot summer temperature. Specifically, it was hidden in a car engine. When the car got started, the snake was frightened and have climb on the windshield of the car that was driving at Memphis.

The family that was in the car was really surprised when cruising down the highway last week. Hidden snake accidentally crawled out of the motor car on the cover of the car when they were speeding on highway road. After a dreadful fear and surprise by everyone in the car, the snake continued to crawl along the windshield. Immediately she was taken with the camera in order to perpetuate this strange event. The snake was five feet long and passengers were not so happy when they suddenly saw her. Stubborn snake, which belongs to no poison type, was not satisfied with her unplanned journey. Ultimately, it would be much better and safer for this family to have allowed the snake to walk down from car, but instead, they continued to drive and wait for the snake to fall to one side of the road.

Snake have complied with the windscreen wiper and the left rear view mirror, so long as she jump on the road between cars. They probably killed a snake with this reckless act. What do you think about this decision to not stop your vehicle? I think it is wrong and that they have to stop the car. This procedure showed a great and terrible cruel to this type of animal, that would not do any harm to them if they have been released her from custody with dignity. We hope that this snake has found a safe trip home after all.

Two Headed Kingsnake

A rarely found, two headed Kingsnake is on loan to a private zoo in the Ukraine.

If you thought that two heads might at times be better then one when trying to do many different things at once, well maybe not if you are a snake. Especially one that eats other reptiles. Also at feeding time, each head is equally hungry feeding the same stomach but will steal food from the other one.

Sometimes the snakes have different ideas as to which rock to lay on, so there’s another battle.

A zoo in Germany loaned the snake to the private zoo. It is 3 years old, and two feet in length.

The snake has drawn a lot of attention since the zoo acquried it and will be on display until September.

A Tongue-Eating Parasite Found Close to the Jersey Shore

Amongst all the other usual type of species found lately, such as the huge plants that eat rats found living in the Philippines and the large woolly rat found a volcanic crater, we now have a parasite that exist by eating the tongue of it’s host. After eating the tongue, it places itself inside the host mouth. It is then attached to the host.

It’s a parasite that lives in the sea. It goes after fish, digs into them and then eats the fishes tongue. After that, the parasite lives inside the mouth of the fish. It doesn’t seem to cause any problems with the fish other then it no longer has a tongue. It’s tongue has been replaced with the parasite.

It’s not a new thing to science that this parasite exist. It’s a type of louse, that has been around for awhile, but seldom found alive.

Now people fishing off the Minquiers islands have found the species living inside a weaver fish.

Up till now the parasite had not been found off the Jersey Shore until just recently one was discovered. It apparently wasn’t a happy discovery.
