Three-legged Dog Learns To Surf

Man’s Best Friend
When you look at this touching video, you will become completely warm and gushy inside. This wonderful creature, man’s best friend, was left without a leg, but that didn’t prevent him to continue with his life… He even got involved in a sport that is quite unusual for pets. Specifically, this dog surfs! Oh yes, you heard it right, and if you don’t believe me, just click “Play” and see it for yourself.
Dog Rescued By Veterinarian
This poor guy went through many bad things in his life and we can’t even imagine how someone could be so cruel to this beautiful animal. There are some scenes in this video that breaks our heart which will surely be your reaction too. The dog was found last September, tied to a wooden pole with a rear foot cut off. Fortunately for him, he was saved by a well-known Los Angeles veterinarian, Dr. Daniel Slaton, who was sure that the dog will not survive and will die before they even try to save it. He was dehydrated and in the complete state of shock.
Surfing After Amputated Leg
Amputating his leg was his only chance to survive and get on his feet again, even if that meant he will have just three of them. Doctor Slaton managed to save him and not only that! He adopted this brave dog and gave him a new and safe home. The dog now lives luxurious life, resting in a dog hotel, and he is even surfing! His surf coach says he never thought that a dog with three legs will ever be able to surf, but this cutie has excellent balance and he is real hustler in surfing. Well, Onyx (name that vet gave him) has finally got the life he deserves, and we can only hope that a punishment will come upon the person who did it and that no other animal will be hurt by him. Because we all know that famous saying: Who does not love animals, does not like people either.
Dog Rescued From A Cold River

Love For Animals
If you are one of us who get all soften inside whenever you see a picture of a cute animal, then this story will touch your soul and restore your faith in the goodness of humanity. You often reads stories about pets saving their owners from drowning, fire or even a burglar gaining thereby the eternal gratitude of mankind, and in this touching story we see people returning the favor. Nothing better demonstrates the love for animals than this interesting story about rescuing a dog.
Cold Rescue
Golden Retriever Charlie was rescued after he fell through the ice and fell into the cold river. The neighbors heard the dog barking and whining and went to help him but couldn’t do anything but encourage him to continue the fight against the cold current, but there were the brave firefighters who jointly carried out this rescue. One of the firefighters was attached to safety rope held by the other members of the fire team. He crawled on the ice over to him and pulled him out of the river. As Charlie has spent some time in the cold river he no longer felt his legs so firefighters had to carry him to the vehicle where they warmed him with blankets trying to dry him out to get him to restore the natural warmth.
Support Of Neighbors
One of the neighbors wrote on his blog: “The whole time I talked to him and encouraged him to continue to keep his head above water. He was constantly falling into the water and current kept carrying him under the ice, we shouted to him to hold on and he continued to fight back.” After rescuing the dog was taken to a vet where he spent the night recovering. Charlie had fully recovered and is now a happy dog. Thanks to the support of neighbors and their constant encouragement Charlie will experience much more walks, but if we were in his place we would have avoided the proximity of the river.
Are Animals Psychic?
Going to the Vet
It never fails, when I put my dog into the car, he cowers and hides if we are making a trip to the vet. He always seems to know where we are going. He is different when it’s the dog groomer we are going to. He loves going to the groomer. Even though both places are located in the same strip mall he knows which one he is going to. If I park up next to the vets office due to lack of parking in front of groomer, my dog still knows where we are going. If I was going to the vet, I would have to pull him out of the car by his leash. This just happened two weeks ago. When I opened the door to get him out to go to the groomer, he got out easily, walked pass the door to the vets office, peed on the post in front of the groomers’ and went right to their door. How did he know I wasn’t taking him to the vet? Could he read my mind?
Dog Says Good-bye
Another instance that shows psychic powers in pets is when I had been away at camp for a few weeks. I returned home to find no one was there. It had been a long two weeks. I had been a camp counselor of a group of young girls and I was wore out. I fell asleep on the couch. I was about 15 years of age when this happened. I was awakened by the feeling someone was watching me. I hate that when you wake up and wonder who is in the room with you. I lay there for a bit hoping they would see I was sleeping and just go on with their business, but they didn’t. Finally I stopped pretending to still be asleep. I turned to look in the direction of the presence, there was no one there. I later found out my beloved collie had passed away a few days before. He had come back to say good-bye.
Cats and Dogs Can Predict Events
Cats and dogs both are able to foresee events such as earthquakes, storms and tsunamis. They have also been know to have knowledge of someone they love being involved in a life and death situation that they don’t survive. If you pay attention to your pet at the time of someones death they dearly love, you may notice they are mourning. Maybe whimpering about something and you have no idea what. It doesn’t matter if they are close by or miles apart, the pet seems to know. If we paid more attention to animals, we may actually gain some knowledge of disasters before they happen. We are too busy trying to quiet them instead of trying to understand what is really bothering them.
Dog Survives Montana Avalanche

Return Of The Faithful Dog
Dog for whom they all believed to be dead after he disappeared in an avalanche in which his owner tragically died showed up for days after in a hotel in Cooke City, Montana where his owners spend the night before going skiing. Bill Whittle, member of the rescue team was sure that Welsh Corgi named Ole was buried in last Saturday’s avalanche.
- The avalanche guys were up there on Monday investigating and they were looking for the dog too and never seen any signs – he says. But, on Wednesday, Ole showed up exhausted and hungry at the motel, six kilometers from the accident site. He sat in front of the room where his owner were sleeping before going skiing and he just stare into the doors. Eleven year old Marguerite, dog’s owner daughter was putting photos of Ole on poster board as a memorial when she found out that Ole was still alive.
Dangerous Mountains
Unfortunately, his owner did not survive the tragic accident. Dave Gaillard from Bozeman, Montana was skiing with his wife when avalanche started near Cooke City, old mining town few miles away from national park Yellowstone. His wife Kerry said that Dave told her to go under the trees. He obviously saw the avalanche coming, but couldn’t help himself in time.

Moment Of Happiness
On New Years Eve, north from Cooke City in avalanche died another person, Jody Ray Verhasselt, forty-six year old man from Sidney. Two deaths in that short time took their toll on this small mountain community. After Ole found his way home, the whole community was relieved because after the week of bad news they needed something to lift their spirits.
- We needed this. It kind of cheered everyone up – Bill Whittle said about return of Ole. So, Ole survived an avalanche and return some optimism between the population of Cooke city!
Dog Ate The Diamond Ring

Missing Jewelery
Imagine waking up one day in your bed minding your own business, and there is no jewelery that you left on your nightstand last night before going to bed. What would you think? You would probably think that a burglar came into your house and stole it. That’s what Rachelle Atkinson from Albuquerque thought when that situation happened to her one day. She had the habit of putting her wedding ring on the nightstand beside her bed before falling asleep. But one morning, when she reached to put it back on her finger, the ring wasn’t where she left it. She and her husband immediately thought a thief broke in, and they were partially right. But, this time, thief had four legs, and lived under their roof.
Dog Ate The Ring
Can you guess what happened? If not, just listen carefully! Coraline, the family’s 10-month-old Basset hound, had eaten the 4,500 dollars worth diamond ring.
- She was the only one in our room, so we immediately looked at her and she looked guilty – mister Scott Atkinson, Rachelle’s husband, told for one tv station.
After they figured out that Coraline was the only one to blame, Scott spent the next ten days sifting through the dog’s waste looking for a ring. He told that going through the „poos“ wasn’t fun at all.

Trip To The Vet
Unfortunately, trip to the family veterinarian showed that Scott’s work was all for nothing, as the ring was too heavy to pass naturally. The vet put Coraline under, and then inserted a tube through her throat to fish out the ring. After several hours and numerous tries, the ring was finally out. Dog and the ring were in the same shape as before. Vet told that basset hounds have tendency to eat rock, so miss Rachelle will not keep her ring on the nightstand anymore.
Dodger the Cat Loves to Ride Bus
Dodger, a tabby cat got his name from the Artful Dodger who had a part on Oliver Twist, loves to ride the city bus. His owners had no idea that the yellow tabby cat was taking free rides on a bus that runs close by his home. He has actually become quite a regular rider. Dodger is a 15 year old male cat. He is not a young cat as I thought him to be when I first heard of his escapades. It is pretty good that he is able to get around well enough to board the buses. Dodger loves to get on the bus and when one of the passengers allowes him to, he sits in their lat during the ride. The route he takes is a 10 mile run that is round trip from Bridport to Charmouth which is in Dorset. There are a few of the drivers that bring small cans of cat food for him during his ride. Then they let him off the bus at his stop where he departs and goes back home. His owners none the wiser about his daily deed.
Hi owner, Mrs Jeanes who is 44 years of age, thinks Dodger may have taken a liking the transit buses because they are warm. The sun heats them up and he enjoys how warm they are. He has taken many rides on the bus now. Even though he is 15 years of age, he is very adventorous. The Jeanes had moved to the area about 19 months ago. Dodger is apparently permitted to run free and enjoyed visiting the patrons of the bus station that ran off the back yard of their home. Mrs. Jeanes tells how Dodger is a very friendly cat and the passengers at the bus station gaven him little morsels to eat. Eventually Dodger must have felt the greenhouse like heat emitting from the bus and got on one. It was just one week ago that Mrs. Jeanes found out that Dodger had gone to Charmouth and back to
Dorset.
Richest Cat In The World
Very unusual news are coming from Italy this time. Cat Tommaso from Rome has become the richest cat in the world. His owner was 94 years old and she died last month leaving all her wealth to her loving pet. Tommaso became the owner of several flats and houses from Milan in the North, to Calabria in the South. Value of all that properties is around 10 millions dollars. Not bad for a cat, don’t you agree? Tommaso is only four years old, so he will be able to live many years as a real king!
His owner was a widow of a very successful builder and they didn’t have any kids, so the cat was her first and only choice. But, animals can’t inherit directly, so rich widow left everything to Stefania, lady that she met in the park. Stefania said that she didn’t know that widow was so rich, so we will trust her. Stefania and Tommaso now live somewhere outside Rome.

Even though love toward a pet can be big and unselfish, we have to ask if that lady really didn’t have any friends or family she could leave at least part of that wealth. Well, whatever, we can only say – lucky Tommaso! Many cats (and people too) will definitely be jealous of him. But, even though he is on the list of the richest pets in the word, he is not the wealthiest. Dog Gunther IV. from Germany is worth around 372 million dollars! Can you imagine that? And before Tommaso, richest cat was Blackie from Great Britain that inherited 9 million pounds from her owner in 1988. We can’t wait for a new story about rich pets, but until then be kind to that lady from your neighborhood with lots of cats. The next richest cat can be among them!
Deformed Puppy Found in Garbage Bag
A man was selling puppies outside a convenience store. A lady approached, possibly just curious about the puppies or wanting one, when she saw the garbage bag next to the man moving around. The lady could hear noises coming from the bag. She asked the man what was in the bag. Then she requested Harper to be given to her. The lady took Harper to the Seminole animal county services who made a call to Erica Daniels. Erica runs a pit bull rescue called Dolly’s Foundation.
It was found that the puppy, which was named Harper, had ‘swimmer puppy syndrome.’ Erica had one vet check out Harper only to hear that he felt that Harper should be put to sleep. The disease Harper has prevented her from being able to stand up on her front legs, walk or lift her head. Harper’s fate had been decided and Erica took her home. Erica wanted to give Harper the love and attention she deserved even if it was for only one night.
After spending that night with Harper, Erica could see improvement in Harper’s movements. Apparently the massages she had given Harper over night had helped. Erica thought that maybe there was a small hope that Harper could improve. Erica decided to take Harper to another vet.

The other vet checked Harper out and found no reason to justify putting Harper to sleep. Her organs were functioning properly. She had no heart problems or brain abnormality. What she did need was treatment for her ‘swimmer puppy syndrome.’
Erica happily did not have Harper put to sleep. Instead she made some calls and got Harper into puppy rehab. At the rehab Harper was put in a swimming pool to exercise her front legs. She received other treatment to help out her condition. Now Harper is close to being able to be adopted.
Andrea, a Stray Cat, Survives the Gas Chamber in Utah
Andrea, a stray cat found in the area of West Valley City, was taken to the local animal shelter to await the possible arrival of her owners searching for her. As it is with so many animals that end up in this type of shelter, no one came. When no owner showed up, and there was no interest in her being adopted, Andrea was scheduled to be euthanized.
Euthanized is done by putting an animal in a gas chamber. They are placed there with other cats, if they are aware of their impending fate, it is unknown. We hope they all see it as a social hour and are comfortable up until they quietly fall asleep.
Andrea was placed in the gas chamber as scheduled. When the employee opened the chamber after the amount of time had passed that was require, they found Andrea still alive. Since it had been determined that this was to be her fate, the employee closed the chamber door and ran the gas again. This time I do wonder about Andrea’s fears. Being in there with possibly other deceased cats had to have been noted by her. Once again, the chamber ran the duration required for a peaceful death. The employee opened the door. They then put her body in a plastic bag to be stored in the cooler till it could be properly taken care of.
Later a dog who had just been put to permanent rest, and placed in a plastic bag was being put into the cooler. When the employees opened the cooler door, they had quite a surprise. Andrea was meowing. Her meow got louder and louder as they listened trying to hear where it was coming from. Once they located the source, they ripped open the bag. There the employees found Andrea, terrified but alive.
That was the last time they tried euthanizing her. She was taken to Community Animal Welfare Society where possibly she can become a spokes cat for this type of practice.
Goat Unable to Use Back Legs, Learns to Walk on Front Ones Only
When the goat was only 3 months of age, it was run over by a cart. The result was it’s back legs were crushed and there was nothing that could be done for it. Xue Yunbao, the owner of the goat really had doubts that the goat was going to live. But live it did, and it proved itself to be something special.
Not many can believe the miraculous sight of a goat walking on only it’s front legs. It could not walk on the back legs anymore since they were crushed, so it learned to balance itself on it’s front two legs. The goat was young, and it struggled but kept trying. Falling down over and over. The little goat was determined and would just get up and try again.
People watching it said it was a sad thing to watch. The goat would hit the ground hard as it fell, but it’s determination moved Yao to step in and try helping it out. The goat seemed to be suffering so much and a bit of help could be all it needed.
Yao worked with the goat for a month. Helping it to stand up on it’s front legs. After many trials and much practice, the goat finally accomplished it’s feat. It could walk on it’s front legs holding it’s back legs up high behind it. The sight of the goat now is an amusing but wonderful thing.
The whole village and visitors that come to the village, enjoy watching the goat as it walks around on it’s front legs. The goat has become a bit of a celebrity amongst the villagers. Xue, the goats owner and his wife plan on keeping the goat and taking care of it for the rest of it’s natural life.
I am wondering if it would be possible to make some prosthetic legs for this resourceful goat to allow it to walk around more comfortably as they have done for a baby elephant in another story.
