  1. Raine343 says:

Most of these animals aren’t extinct, or were total pests. The thylacine has been found in Australia again, the przewalski horse was a pest, red wolves are still alive in zoos in America1, the golden toad is in many aquariums, the oryx that you have listed is actually extinct, along with the angel shark (one ugly mother fucker), and I can guarantee that there are more than 2500 tigers left in the wild, that we don’t know about.
However, most of these animals are suitable to survive in today’s world. If they go extinct, then there’s nothing we can really do about it for now. While I do respect your observations and conservativeness for the environment, I do ask that you get the most up-to-date information.

  2. Raine343 says:

I meant to say that they’re not suitable to survive in today’s environment. Sorry about the typo.

  3. S says:

The thylacine has NOT been rediscovered in Australia, despite continuing claims (which are a lot like UFO sightings — the evidence evaporates as soon as anyone not a true believer gets near). And few of these animals were pests in any real sense, except to a few ranchers who regarded anything they couldn’t sell as pests.

  4. showtownman says:

Raine343, if you’re going to post like this, even going so far as to post “corrections” to your original, you should get your facts straight: No thylacine, not unless you’re talking sci-fi; maybe they’re someplace hiding/unseen as yet, but there’s far, far from anything definitive, other than the extinct verdict. And it’s not amusing nor particularly intelligent to call an animal that pre-dates our own – as the przewalski horse did – a pest; given your definition, I suppose, anything that gets in your way is a pest. And just so you know, “mother fucker” may be terminology that gains you respect somewhere, but it’s not going to help you win any of the arguments you’re trying to make about this subject.

  5. eno says:

The best part is, for the most part, nobody cares. It’s just that much more room for shopping malls! Who cares about a few animals more or less?

  6. Ally says:

Well I care and I know a lot of other people who care about these things too why the fuck do we need a thousand different shopping malls… freakin loser. And hey Raine343 you obviously don’t know anything about anything so I’m not sure why you even left a reply. It was never proven that the thylacine still exists and golden toads are definitely extinct, maybe you got them confused with poison dart frogs or something but there are none in no one’s aquarium. And are you an expert on Przewalski horses or something? If not then i dont know how you can justifiably call them pests. Domestic cats and rats are MUCH bigger pests than horses could ever be and ranchers/farmers view everything as pests they are really just crazy ignorant people.
But it is funny that the animals you mentioned as being extinct are actually NOT extinct, the Arabian oryx, Scimitar oryx and the East African oryx are all still alive and Angelsharks are also not extinct you can easily look all these animals up online and see for yourself which is probably what you should have done before you left your response

  7. Ally says:

Also i don’t know how you can “guarantee” that there are 2500 tigers in the wild that we don’t know about. What are you a tiger expert too? lol you really don’t know anything and shoulnt comment on things you know nothing about. I do ask you to take your own advice and “get the most up-to-date information” lol wow

  8. derrrr says:

eno – go fuck yourself asshole.  dumb spoiled bitch.

  9. zo says:

i carre bout how more or less butt holl

  10. Loc'nar says:

Dorkiest video I’ve seen this year.

  11. csc5502 says:

99.9% of all species that have ever existed are extinct.  Look it up.

To all you whiny libs crying about shopping malls…get over it.  If you hate it so much move to some craphole like Bangladesh or Zimbabwe and stop them from building shopping malls since they have few if any.

Bottom line?  Since species have died off long before we came along, that’s part of nature.  Trying to keep species from going extinct is interfering with nature, and we all know how much you hate that.

  12. Narubiq says:

eno, your reply reminds me so much why I hate going to malls…..too many spoiled ass pests. You guys are like leaches and when you get your fill, it’s all gone just like fossil fuel…

  13. milehighscouter says:

Well, gee its all ok then. Raine343 has personally guaranteed that there are lots of tigers we don’t know about. What trash. Biodiversity is the issue. Lose enough and entire ecosystems fail. Lose key species and several others fail. Yep, education is the answer.

  14. Joey says:

Okay, Raine, you’re an idiot. I don’t need to elaborate, plenty of others already have.
    Ally and derrrr… I may be mistaken but when I read this;
“The best part is, for the most part, nobody cares. It’s just that much more room for shopping malls! Who cares about a few animals more or less?” I sense a lot of sarcasm.
And regardless of whether that’s sarcasm or not, you can’t deny that a good majority of people feel this way. Not even out of malice, indifference, or ignorance towards this fact of life, but I’d attribute it more-so to a neglecting forgetfulness. Either way, I think you’re being rather rude beyond reason. If this person does feel this way, they certainly have a point.
By the next couple centuries, odds are, if we don’t commit genocide against our species and wipe ourselves out, we will have the technology to genetically engineer reverse evolution or map out new genes to bring back any fucking animal we damn well please. We already have to an extent, e.g. the aurochs. This whole conservation mentality, while very noble and humane, is eventually going to be unnecessary, sad to say.

  15. I have a photo that I took in the Smokey Mountains of a Red Wolf——–in the wild eating a Deer.
Not to say that they are not endangered but they are not extinct in the wild.

  16. bob says:

what about the south african white rhino? or north african white rhino….one of those either way there’s like 5 left and you TOTALLY left them out of the video hahahahaha

  17. deathcloud says:

Why don’t ppl care that the animals are slowly dying off?  Do you really want to live in a world with nothing to appreciate?  Do you want a world where it is wall to wall buildings, blacktop, and ppl, so crowded and built up that you can’t even breathe?  If so, then go move to China.  Animals are a beautiful part of living…but apparently others don’t see it that way.

  18. showtownman; A voice of reason among so many “fuck this and fuck that’s.’

  19. all2numb says:

Wow. First off, I hate shopping malls too. The vast majority of them built over the last two decades are sitting for the most part empty with for lease signs in the window. All that property paved over for what? Progress? Ya, not so much. Second, it isn’t nature that is killing off all of these species, it’s rednecks with guns who feel tigers look better stuffed in their living rooms rather than running free in the jungle. Third, the guy who says he has a pic of a red wolf eating a deer, Cabelas would pay a fortune for it. the species refferred to, Canis Lupus Rufus, shown in the video has not been seen in the wild by the Conservation Dept or anyone for that matter in over 2 decades. What you probably have a pic of is a hybrid reintroduced by By the Conservation Dept that’s a wolf/coyote blend. If you don’t believe me, Google it.

  20. The comment made about species going extinct being part of nature is ignorant and ridiculous. Was the passenger pigeon going extinct natural? Just because humans are a part of the natural world it doesnt mean the animals we wipe out should go extinct, or even that they would if we didnt interfere. Pul your head out of your ass csc5502. Douchebag. And the red wolf is only listed as endangered there are several successful breeding progams for them. Also dont bame shopping malls blame rampant expansion of the suburbs and an increasing demand for beef.

  21. The Fucking Bronze says:

I’m a firm believer that the answer to all of mans problems lie in the animal kingdom and the more species WE exterminate the more chance of our future being completely fucked.

As for the prick that said “I can guarantee there are around 2500 tigers left in the wild that we don’t know about..”. I can guarantee that there isn’t. What tigers haven’t been made into Chinese medicine are all accounted for and there aren’t many left at all.

  22. Nan says:

Apparently, no one watching this understands sarcasm. Poor eno. No one got your joke.
This video made my heart all sad :(
Especially the Tasmanian Tigers, thinking about those always makes me sad. They were so interesting looking.

  23. Shades120 says:

I think we just need to stay out of nature to be honest, just play our part, kill to eat not to play, we may be at the top of the food chain but that doesn’t mean that we can just kill for the sake of killing, we should just do what we have to do to survive, and this is coming from someone who’s lifestyle actually works in fast food.

  24. Scuzzy says:

yeah lol… poor eno. you guys need to learn to take a joke…

as for the video and debates following: i think its terrible for the animals, but even more terrible for people. enough said.

  25. Alfred says:

Fact: No species existing on this planet today is going to survive a billion years. Conditions on earth and indeed in all of existence are in constant change with or without the presence of human beings. Always has changed. Always will. Some change is gradual. Other changes are sudden and some catastrophic.

Species are simply a reflection of life’s adjustments to change. At some point in the ongoing change each species will disappear (including us) and others will appear until that time when the conditions on earth will no longer support any life form – as it was before the beginning of life on this planet so will it be after life on this planet has ended. The Alpha and the Omega.

Trying to stop all of that, trying to slow it all down, trying to hold things constant is an overestimation of our ability to predict change, to determine what change will do, to intentionally influence change, or to predict the direction of any change we have intentionally influenced and thus, a useless exercise and a folly if our intent is to “save the planet” whatever, that means.

As to those species whose existence were hastened by our presence. One may as well grieve those species of pathogens eliminated by our use of antibiotics as grieve such creatures as the Tasmanian Tiger cause the absence of those pathogens from the environment will have even more influence on our ability to survive the change their passing signals as the absence of creatures like the Tasmanian Tiger, the “Thylacine”, the Red Wolf or the White Rhiocerous.

  26. Nathaniel says:

I can’t believe the amount of ignorant comments on this video…. but I can’t blame them when the tag photo was of a prop from a television show lol.

  27. Balls says:

    Gayest. Music. Ever.

  28. Bob says:

Species die off, it’s the way nature is. Unfortunately humans have been better at killing off other species then probably any other “animal” but we’re also are the only ones that can do anything about it whether good or bad. The downside to all of this, is what if one of these species would have evolved into something that would have given us the cure to a disease in the future that we don’t even know about. I Know it’s highly unlikely but you never know.

We’re humans and we’re going to do what we’ve always done.. fight, kill, create. In the absence of all of these animals we’re going to put things on this earth the world has never seen, the balance is being kept in ways you don’t even think about. Humans may cause a lot of pain but there is also a lot of happiness that comes from the stupid things that we let happen, so at the end of the day, appreciate what you have and the progress we’ve made cuz we haven’t always had it this good and we are the dominant species and the only one that CARES what happens, the animals dieing out can’t prevent it and we probably can’t either. So instead of trying to make others feel guilty, accept that this worlds a shitty place but it could be us dieing out so go live your life and quit whinging -.-

  29. Rational Man says:

Well, it took a while for peiople the likes of Albert and Bob to provide the only worthwhile comments to this inane thread. Let’s not forgot, all this “biodiversity” started with a single protop[lasmic like self replicating long chain molecule, end will end as such. Biodiversity on earth has alway recovered and flourished after mass extinctions and othe catastrophic events that spawned the do overs that got us here. We are just a continuation of that saga and will some day be replaced, as will that which replaces us, until all is gone into entopy.

  30. Lawlren says:

Animals are NEVER pests. That should never be a reason to make them extinct. Humans are the biggest pests of all, but I don’t see us being hunted to death (sadly).

  31. Kinson says:

Ok video brought points forward, but the medium it was brought forward was bad. If you really want ppl to feel moved, don’t make it seem like another angry, righteous video. It gets you nowhere but scoffing from ppl that aren’t concerned.

  32. Scimitar says:

The scimitar horned oryx is not completely extinct. There are some at the local zoo here.

    http://brevardzoo.org/explore_africa.php?id=43

  33. Caliandra says:

I can’t believe some of the crap I’m reading on here. I’m not giving names.
Shopping malls are far too prevalent, but really and truly, Golf Courses are the biggest waste of land there is.

i PERSONALLY see animal extinction to be a horrible thing because the most recent extinctions have been caused by humans.
    Oh yes, I said it.
    HUMANS.

Admittedly some of those animals are ugly fucks, as one person put it.. but those ugly fucks are part of an ecosystem.

Think about this. There is a rare fungus wiping out amphibians all over the world  AMPHIBIANS. Not just one species of frog, but millions. It nearly wiped out the Leopard Frog in North America.
    DOn’t believe me? Look
    http://www.amphibianark.org/the-crisis/chytrid-fungus/

This is serious. Amphibians are a major string in the ecological tapestry. If all of them are extinct, it will affect the ecosystem so badly that it will travel all the way up the chain to us. Between this fungus and habitat loss, we are looking at a dangerously high chance for extinction.
Look up the Barton Springs salamander and see what it says about them. And then consider the fact that if they are subjected to this fungus, they could be lost to us forever.

Admittedly there are lots of extinct animals. But many of them were not  extinct naturally. They were killed by humans. Collected, eaten, decimated because they were considered “pests”
And now we sit and look at photos from animals LONG ago, and claim that it’s natural that species are becoming extinct now. No, it’s really not. We are destroying them, whether you self centered fools want to admit it or not.

  34. You're All Idiots says:

I would like to start off by making the bold claim that saying “You don’t know anything,” is not a valid argument in any case. Also, you can’t blame shopping malls, or people who go there, or ranchers, or for that matter any group of people  for societies problems. This is because societies’ problems belong to society as a whole.

Secondly, I think it is important to recognize that extinction  can be natural, or caused by man. It may be going too far for some of you, but a man made extinction can be considered natural.

Third, some animals are pests. An example would be the mosquito. Please don’t reply crap about the fine balance of the ecosystem, because to humans mosquitoes are pests. Sure things like bats may need them for food, but to us mosquitoes are disease carriers and bringers of death and we would be better off without them. Another example would be if you were an antelope, you would find lions to be a pest because they interfered with your way of life and try to kill you. What I am trying to say is that if an animal gets in the way of another then it is a pest to that other animal. This does not justify the extinction of the animal, but does make it okay to call the animal a pest.

To finish my post I will rant about these sentences:
“Animals are NEVER pests. That should never be a reason to make them extinct. Humans are the biggest pests of all, but I don’t see us being hunted to death (sadly).”
To the first sentence, I have already explained that animals can in fact be pests; if you don’t believe me go run through an alligator infested swamp and see if animals still can’t be pests even when you’re being mauled by one. Sentence two, this one is a little tricker because it deals with the morality of choosing which species live and which die. I think it is okay for humans to cause extinctions, because they are a part of nature and will provide moral lessons and possible better our species, but either way survival of the fittest applies. Last sentence. First there is a blatant contradiction from animals are never pests to humans are pests. Also, you are saying that we as a species should be hunted to death. Irony runs thick in that. If you are saying that humans cannot choose which animals live and die even if they are destructive, then why should another species be allowed to choose to kill us because of our destructiveness?

  35. LOL says:

What about the terminology ‘survival of the fittest’? Sheesh, if everyone were animal loving hippies on this planet we’d have some serious problems with our ecosystems!

    STOP PLAYING GOD!

  36. Brandon says:

I’m pretty sure Eno wasn’t serious, so it’s a little sad to see people insulting him/her when what he/she said went over their heads. “The best part is, for the most part, nobody cares.” This is a complaint and Eno is not really happy. ” It’s just that much more room for shopping malls!” Exclamation mark gives away obvious sarcasm. “Who cares about a few animals more or less?” Eno points out the depressing truth that most people are selfish and mindless, but hopes to convince more people to care with his/her post.

  37. RT says:

You guys are all just getting trolled by people like eno and Raine. Trollbait is what you are.

  38. I was questioning the similar factor. and observed your site by bing, many userful stuff here, now i’m a bit clear. I’ve bookmark your web page and also add rss. maintain us updated.

  39. Dennis says:

Yes, all species go extinct, but the rate of extinction has risen since the human race started to industrialized. This is an exponential increase, over the last couple centuries directly liked to the growth of industries and our modernization, so it not just shopping malls or golf courses, or suburbs, but everything we have done to modernize. Yes we need these modernization, but in moderation. And for the one person you said survival of the fittest, how would you like to live in a world with no food, as all the ecosystems that we relay on have vanished as we killed too many of the species that live in these ecosystems.
And yes there are animals that are pest, but we cannot choose what lives or dies, as it may have a consequence that we have not seen.

  40. dan says:

People keep saying oh this animal isnt extinct its seen in a zoo. to me that is basically extinct. at this point in time you can not repopulate an animal from a zoo population

  41. Dominic says:

Well I don’t know how people can say they don’t care about animals been/and going to be extict.I certainly care, its terrible species are been wiped out because of stupidness and selfishness of humans

  42. Mike says:

Animals become extinct every year. 99.99% of all species that ever existed are extinct. And new species come about to fill the gap. It’s part of the cycle of life and the wider cycle of evolution. Just like animals hunt each other in the wild and we kill animals for our own nutrition. All facts humans have to come to grips with.

  43. Mike says:

The 99.99% of all species of life to ever exist that are now extinct were all gone before humans started civilization about 5000 years ago (with the exception of a negligible few). Human civilization has been around for a tiny tiny blip in the time span of life on earth. Sure some species have been fished or hunted out of existence but the overwhelming majority have been headed to extinction for a lonnngggg time….way back when our primordial ancestors were still rolling around in their own excrement and picking bugs out of each other’s back hair.

  44. Any animal on the face of this planet extinct or not , from the ugliest to the most beautiful and magnificent of all , is worth more to me then any human life . I am not an animal rights activist nor am i an evnironmentalist but if it is not blatantly obvious that humanity is running this world into its own destruction and therefore humanities own destruction , then you must be blind . These animals can have the planet , just get the humans the fuck off …. “The Human Element” ,… my ass .

  45. useyoureyesladiesandgentlemen says:

for all the people that said “this animal isnt extinct, i saw it in a zoo!” the fucking video says extinct in the wild.. IN THE WILD, understand? this includes the oryx, if you have a strong opinion on something, please just pay the fuck attention first.

  46. vinlander says:

Nothing sad in Nature’s Will only human stupid will to control everything…Extinction is part of the normal process of evolution…its time Nature get rid of its most unwanted parasites…humanity

  47. Jeffy_Dalhmer says:

Who the fuck cares about a few species? inb4 food web and all that shit

If you care about animals more than you care about humans, you’re a pretentious douche of magnitudes unbefore seen by the universe.

We should quit worrying about a few species that may or may not be important to their ecosystem (which will learn to adapt without them; it’s not like one day the numbers go from 10,000 to zero, they decline steadily, the ecosystems these animals belong to will adapt as they always have.) when we can’t even come to terms with the fact that we as humans will always disagree.

Look at yourselves. The middle east is in shambles, war and genocide are everywhere, and you fuckers are complaining about a few non-essential species. Fuck that, humans are way better than the stupid pricks in this video.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have places to go and people to kill, you peace loving keyboard monkeys.

    Wu-Tang forever.

  48. Solomon says:

Jeffery you are the perfect example of an idiot! what you do not realize fool, is if you keep extinguishing animal species from our ecosystem it will eventually destroy it, that includes humans who are essentially at the top of the chain. The war in the middle East was was started by American mercenaries and George bush junior and senior and the powers that be. personally i do not care if they kill each other ..the more the merrier.. cause there will be no one left to start another war so kill away …it’s really too bad the real terrorists did not take out the CIA and the Pentagon …case that’s were all the bad guys are ….leave the animals alone all the y want is the same things normal humans want peace, food , habitat and a good woman to love and multiply..oh by the way all that killing that you have done all those girls don’t you think some where one of there family members is just sitting somewhere with a really powerful rifle and scope waiting for your monkey ass …. who would be extinct then.

  49. Jimmy.Jazz says:

Let’s face it, the only animal that should be extinct is the human. Let’s start off with the ones who made comments without any research on the topic of the video, as they are showing their lack of education and/or lack of morality. Too bad natural selection doesn’t apply to the human anymore. It wouldn’t bother me to see large predators making a feast on the lower level human population.

  50. TR says:

I am saddened to see the disrespectful, uneducated, and plain ignorant comments regarding the state of the planet’s animals and outright contempt for them. We humans are the scourge, the malignant cancer that will ultimately be our own demise. Humans are the only species that kill their own in mass numbers. If we have such a superior intellect, why are raping and pushing the planet to the brink? The writing in on the wall, yet so many see it, but fail to read. I’m not a tree hugger, but I have lived throughout the world, and have seen first hand the, sometimes irreversible damage done by us. I have more respect for any animal than most humans; animals live a specific life without the vices, to mention a few, of corruption,  greed, and vanity. The loss of any species due to our hand leave an indelible stain on us. We really need to reset.

  51. Jenny Talwortz says:

Dont worry about Jeffy_Dalhmer Solomon, he will starve to death within the next 5 years along with the rest of the unprepared petroleum man human subspecies.

  52. Connor says:

I was really sad when I saw this video, but all your comments saying “Some were ugly fucks” made me crack a smile.

  53. nice pics
    i like it,,

  54. Pauline says:

    ohmy
what can i do to save these animals?

  55. Pat says:

How do you have a list of endangered species and not mention mountain gorillas or wild bactrian camels or amur leopard (which only has 30-35  left in the wild)?????

  56. CSC Is Gay says:

csc?!!! yOU MORONIC RETARD!!! HOW DARE U TALK BOUT BANGLADESH U ASSHOLE…MIND IT DAT ALL DA WEALTH U HAVE IN UR GODDAMN SHITHOLE WAS PLUNDERED 4RM US U HERMAPHRODITE….HAVE RESPECT ND GET A LYF WANKER…….LMAo!!!!

  57. Fishtank says:

All you people that say “Extinction is fine just ignore it” are stupid. And I’m not one who usually calls people names. You who think that probably think that about insects, right… Well think of it this way.

If all insects died then all the animals that feed on them would die. Then all the animals that feed on those animals would die. Ect. Ect Ect. All the way up to the primary consumers (The animals on the top of the food chain).

If your still thinking poeple can servive at this piont than think of it this way. If
all insects died then plants would not be able to reproduce which meens no new plants naturaly. And humanity is not advanced enouph to pollinate a whole planet (and may never be). Which meens no more plants (for the majority).

So without plants and animals humans would be going through life eating cans of perserved food till we all died of either food piosoning, starvation, or carbonmonoxied piosoning (Suffication). And thats if insects died first. If some other section of the ecosystem died out first than everything I’ve stated would probably still happen but in a different order ending with this last paragraph.

It should be noted that I am not an animal activist. At a certian piont these events will be at apiont of no return. And everybody should just get over the issue of “Human Supremecy”.

  58. redneck says:

To the jackass that said rednecks with guns cause extinction, why dont you read a book, cause rednecks with guns are the people who founded this country. I have guns but I dont kill anything, and for you to through a blanket comment like that is like me saying all women are bitches or all men are assholes…..

  59. I just have one thing to say. I find it wrong that when people kill animals and drive them to mass extinction everyone turns a blind eye. But when an animal kills a human we label it as a pest and threat and try to purge the world of it. I mean I understand some species of animals are(like the mosquito, wild pigs, pigeons, etc.), but other species have done nothing wrong besides look threatening, or nice in front of a fireplace, or kill a person for threatening it or it’s young. The fact that we destroy their natural habitat and kill them for sport and then get pissed when they fight back just is not right. I mean really? If I came into your house and shot your family so I could have a nice trophy to brag about to people or just call it “nature taking its course”, or even progress is not an excuse to me.

I mean sure some of it is nature, but we contribute a lot to the extinction of species.

  60. Dalas says:

csc5502 you are retarded. It is not interfering with nature to save these animals since it is us that is killing them off… not natural order. We are cleaning up our own mess by trying to save them. We hunted them to extinction, we built copious and useless amounds of malls to destroy their habitat. It is not natures course that most of them are extinct or going to be. the only animals that do not owe their extinction to us pre-date us into the prehistoric era.

  61. jbdean says:

@Raine343 Sorry, but you’re a total a$$. First, there is no such thing as a pest when it comes to a living creature (other than a lot of humans who have the brains to know better but prefer to live on their greed and selfishness instead)! And second, the poster titled the blog “Extinct & soon to be extinct animal/species,” so stop trying to sound intelligent and know-it-all because you failed miserably. All life has the right to live, thrive and not be killed off or dwindled down due to man’s hunting them to extinction or encroaching on their land and forcing them into areas where they cannot find food or polluting their space so that their food sources leave and they starve to death (the Alaskan Polar Bear, for example). When I think that my now 3 year old grandson will never see many of the animals I took for granted as always being here when I was young, it breaks my heart. I never dreamed that a breed of horse, a rhino, tiger or polar bear could end up no longer existing in the wild in my lifetime. If we don’t all change very soon, the only animals left to put in zoos will be humans.

  62. jbdean says:

@Dalas YOU ROCK! Tell ‘em how it is! And with us being the “intelligent” species, why can’t part of natural selection include our helping even if we might not be the cause of a certain animal’s demise? Our intelligence should be put to good, not bad … saving, not destroying!
